Week 1: June 23rd-June27th
Shells
It's all about shells this week! Join us as we explore how shells are formed and their role in the marine ecosystem. Children will discover how Indigenous people used shells for tools, jewelry, currency, and more.
Art Connection: Indigenous shell carvings, beadwork, and colorful dyes made from quahog shells by the Lenape.
Week 2: June 30th-July 4th
Deep Sea
Exploration
Dive into a week-long adventure exploring the wonders of the ocean. Kids (Ages 8-12yrs) will discover deep-sea creatures and the science behind bioluminescence.
Art Connection: Yayoi Kusama (b. 1929) – Known for her glowing, dot-covered art that resembles bioluminescent organisms.
Week 3: July7th-July11th
Sharks !
Ages 8-12 yrs will experience the thrilling world of sharks—the ocean’s most mysterious and misunderstood predators! From the mighty great white to the elusive goblin shark, we’ll uncover the legends, science, and surprising secrets of these incredible creatures.
Art Connection: Inspired by Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919)—a famous naturalist and illustrator known for his detailed and mesmerizing marine life drawings—we’ll bring sharks to life on paper with ink, charcoal, and more!
